steel-baseplates-for-heckler-and-koch-9mm-and-40-cal-steel-magazine-bodies
Steel baseplates for Heckler and Koch 9mm and .40 Cal steel magazine bodies

DeFender Automatics Co steel baseplates for all Heckler and Koch 9mm and .40 Cal steel magazine bodies install in place of the plastic baseplates found on the OEM mags. These steel baseplates are machined here in the USA from 1018 steel, heat treated, and then black QPQ nitride finished to make them as tough as the USP itself. They can be used in mud, snow, ice, sand, salt water, and will not corrode, break, or jam the magazine. They turn the steel magazines into apocalyptic proof tanks that can be dropped on steel, concrete, rocks, and other hard surfaces without having a 'yard sale' where rounds, springs, and bodies separate upon impact. Full 20 round P30 magazines were dropped onto concrete from 6, 9, and 15 ft heights without losing a round, experiencing separation, or having a failure in a live fire test.

The steel was chosen to help get weight low in the palm of the Heckler and Koch polymer frame and balance out the feel of the firearm itself. The added weight of the DeFender Automatics Co steel baseplates at the bottom of the Heckler and Koch magazine body helps magazines drop free from the frame during magazine changes. These steel baseplates do not add any additional capacity to the magazine body so they are 50 state legal. The DeFender Automatics Co steel baseplates also do not add any additional length to the frame, and meet the weight limit for baseplates in all shooting sports classes, so are legal for all shooting sports classifications.

The steel baseplates use current and past Heckler and Koch engineering design language to appear OEM looking in all frames. The new VP9A1 magazines as well as the full size USP jet funnel magazines were used to morph the best designs of each factory HK baseplate into the hybrid DeFender Automatics steel baseplate. The half moon finger grooves taken from the A1 magazine help the shooter manually strip a magazine from the frame, while the nose, material, and finish taken from the USP jet funnel magazine help create a stable platform on which to balance the firearm upright, keep the magazine as bullet proof as the firearms itself, and provide environmental protection in the form of the nitride finish.

The DeFender Automatics steel baseplates fits the following Heckler and Koch polymer frames with steel magazine bodies in both 9mm and .40 Cal:

P30/sk/L

VP9/sk/A1/k/F/L/Match

P2000/sk

USP Compact

The steel baseplates ship with a light coat of oil that is applied during the final step of the nitride process, as well as a water-jet cut aluminum spacer that needs to be placed into the bottom of the baseplate when used with a factory HK USP/P2000 13 round magazine and the older P30/VP9 full size 15 round magazines. This spacer is designed to keep the maximum spring pressure on the magazine feed lips for the best reliability. The aluminum spacer can be set aside for use on a different capacity magazine in the future or discarded if not using for the above application.

https://wicked-compensator.myshopify.com/products/steel-baseplates-for-heckler-and-koch-9mm-and-40-cal-steel-magazine-bodies
